Chilly wind and dry air mean fall and winter is all about hydration, hydration, hydration. I have dry lips and weird combination (I guess?) skin that is alternately very dry and very oily, and the things on this list have been great for me, so if you're looking for some winter-worthy products these are definitely worth a try! There are also some non-beauty items on here that are also ah-mazing.
1. Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm, $7
Available at CVS, Rite Aid, Target, Walgreens, Whole Foods, Safeway, Wegmans
My
favorite is Rose, which really does make my lips a perfect rosy color.
They're not quite as hydrating as the original lip balm, but they do the
job better than any other hydrating lipstick I've tried for my very dry
lips.

2. Korres Wild Rose 24-Hour Moisturizing & Brightening Cream, $35
Available on Amazon, Korres.com, Sephora
For
those of you worried about scent (my peers!), this moisturizer is NOT
rose-scented! I like this one because it reminds me a lot of the
inexplicably discontinued L'Occitane Almond-Apple Concentrate, which was
just light enough to satisfy my weird super dry/super oily (it's not
even combination, it's just one extreme or the other everyday) skin.
It's also great to mix with foundation so that it stays on longer and
doesn't flake in the cold air.
3. Nu Skin SunRight Bodyblock SPF 30, $14
Amazon
This sunblock is amazing. It doesn't oil up my face, actually goes on and feels like light, moisturizing lotion, and doesn't smell! The bottle is pretty big, and will last at least several months. It's so "unoily" that I can put it on over make-up without messing up my foundation.
4. Aveda Smoothing Fluid, $28
Aveda, Amazon
Cold mornings and nights mean hot showers, and that in addition to the dry air means my hair is especially brittle and wiry this time of year. Putting this fluid on damp hair makes it silky and soft and protects it at the same time. Another plus: one bottle seriously lasts forever. I've had mine for months and it is not even half empty yet.
5. Aloe Vera gel, $5-7 (or even just buy your own Aloe Vera plant!)
Most drugstores, Amazon, drugstore.com
There is truly nothing better for blisters and wind burns.
6. Joseph & Lyman cashmere sweater, anywhere from $15-40 used
These are the softest sweaters I have ever, ever worn. Designed by the brothers who founded Bloomingdale's, these sweaters aren't sold on Bloomingdale's website and there are really only used items on Ebay (my friend found hers in a vintage store) and are mostly in large men's sizes, but they are very cute over leggings on the days you just want to feel all kinds of comfortable. Trust, me, they are absolutely the softest things you will ever wear.
7. Butter London in "All Hail the Queen", $15
Available at Sephora, Butterlondon.com
No, it isn't really hydrating or anything, but I just had to put this in here because I think it's a great color for when the sky gets a little gloomy and the weather a little wintry. It is calming and festive, fun and sophisticated, unique and versatile. There's really nothing quite like it, so it is worth the money. Bonus: it's free of toxic chemicals like formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP!

QT Mariel here. The other day I had a little mini shoot with fellow Q blogger, Arielle, in Chino Hills. The two of us really wanted to style our favorite Q sweater! I came across this park by accident because it was on the way home from our other shoot out near Palm Springs (photos of that project soon to come). I decided to stick with this location because it fulfilled exactly what I wanted with this fun and bold sweater. The tranquil and peacefulness of the background in this park balances out the loudness of the stars in the cardigan. At the same time, the galactic, space-themed playground matched the overall theme of the outfit.
Anyway...
Get this Shooting Stars Slouchy Sweater at Q! This vintage inspired, loose knit oversized sweater with star pattern and destroyed hemline makes the perfect fun and edgy look for your fall fashion!
XOXO,
QT Mariel

Fashion Library
Hey Q fans! What if I were to tell you that there is such thing as a fashion library? I don't mean just a library that contains books about fashion, fashion history, etc. I am talking about a place where you could borrow designer clothes instead of books! Yes! If you live in So-CAL, or better yet the LA area, go check out Athenaeum Fashion Library in West Hollywood! I have yet to check this place out myself and I will most definitely do so within this next month and blog about my experience!
If you're interested, click this link for more info : Athenaeum Fashion Library
Have a fabulous week! Keep checking in as we release our new blogging platform this week! We will no longer be using blogspot. We'll keep everyone posted!!

#ThoughtfulThursday
You're three weeks into the new school year, the idea of new school supplies, fresh faces and a new schedule is gradually losing its novelty. I don't know about you but after this phase wears off, I usually hit hermit mode. School drags on, people seem to annoy me for no reason, and at the end of the day I just want to go home to my Netflix account and a cup of Chai tea. Though this has been the routine I've been following every quarter, I've decided to do things a little different for my senior year in university. After experiencing the passing of one of my closest friends this summer, I remembered instantly Plato's famous quote "Be kind for everyone is fighting a hard battle". It's so easy to get wrapped up into your own lives with deadlines, appointments, etc. that sometimes you can forget about the other people who are also facing their share of struggles. Therefore, I've given myself somewhat a challenge to be more positive everyday because I'm sure a little positivity can go a long way in both my own life and in others'. Sometimes I forget that it's the little things that move you forward. Even if it's just saying "hello" to people on campus, or putting effort into fixing my work space, every positive action has made me feel more fulfilled and in turn has made my days brighter! The results haven't been mind-blowing or "life-changing" but it has definitely had amazing results. This change in attitude brought in new friends into my life, brought me closer to the friends I already have, and has overall made me a happier person. I encourage you guys to take the challenge with me to fight the mid-quarter slump! Happy Thursday, QTs!
XOXO,
QT Nicole

Fashion Idol: Lauren Conrad
Lauren Conrad is definitely one of my top fashion idols! She really is someone I have considered to be an ideal, respectable woman, even in her younger Laguna Beach/The Hills days. I see her as a woman of integrity who sticks to her values and has used her fame in positive ways!
Yesterday I was able to catch her appearance on the Katie Couric show. She discussed two of her favorite fall beauty trends as well as a new project she is starting called The Little Market. Let me tell you, this project is INCREDIBLE! Lauren helps female individuals as she goes around to developing countries and sells local handmade goods from female artisans, then sells it for them online. It's such a beautiful way to help these women rise out of poverty, empower them, and make their own money. Lauren has such a warm soul! Lauren advocating for causes like these are primary reasons why she is my favorite fashionista! She is using her fame, resources, and fashion opportunities to to be a blessing to others!
To see a short clip of her project, view it here Lauren Conrad: The Little Market. Here is a link to the store itself The Little Market Shop.

Lauren also discussed two of her favorite beauty trends:
1.) White Eyeliner - Lauren mentioned her obsession with white eyeliner than can be under or over the eye, or a silvery white highlight on the inner corner of the eye.

Paris Fashion Week 2013: Our Favorite Looks
Sorry we're a little late to the party, but let's talk about the ethereal, epic, elegant, exciting wonderland that was Paris Fashion Week. The runways generally felt more dramatic and thematic than New York or London (major apologies for not covering LFW, but it was a hectic month), and it really was full of big leaguers like Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Stella McCartney, and so many more. Check out our favorite looks:
1. miu miu
I can't remember the last time I've seen a pastel leather skirt, not to mention one styled and layered so well! The shininess of the leather gives the sweet white tights, Mary Janes, and soft coat a great edge.
2. Saint Laurent
The Saint Laurent show was one of my favorites this year. Even in the picture, beyond the cool designs and styling, the tailoring of each piece came across as just perfect. The variety was great as well, from the shoes to the range in styles from menswear to preppy to edgy to classic to the bags and hair styles.
3. Valentino
Sometimes clothes that seem like they would clash end up creating a new style altogether. Just make sure to go all out and rock it!
4. Louis Vuitton
'Nuff said.
5. Stella McCartney
Miranda Kerr and a beautiful lace dress. Go for fresh, airy lace this spring rather than anything too pastel-sweet or the usual vintage-y.
6. Celine
Celine went abstract and artsy this year, experimenting with shapes in sweaters, shoes, and accessories, but this look stood out because of the clean color, light pleats, and great glasses.
7. Paul & Joe
The best part of this look, I think, is the make-up. That rosy, nudish lip color is amazing and really freshens up the whole outfit, which is beach casual at its best.
8...and 9. Chloe
Another one of my favorite shows. The wonder of pleated chiffon and some crazy handwork on the dresses completely blew me away.
10. Chanel
I am sorry but I just never really vibed with Chanel's runways in the past, but I actually enjoyed the Paris show. The washed out grey, bright swatches of colors, Lego-reminiscent bag, and arm candy -- I hope to see a lot of subdued neutrals and vibrant colors this spring!
There it is, our ten favorite looks. If you have been inspired by any of them, just remember to go all out, try new things, and no matter what, have confidence in yourself!
(Shout out to Marc Jacobs, whose show was his last with Louis Vuitton, for a crazy show! Perfect and personal way to end an incredible run as one of the fashion industry's most innovative Creative Directors.)

Zodiac Style: Taurus
Hello everyone! It’s QT Kim. I’ve always been a horoscope
junkie. I “follow” horoscope Twitters, get daily horoscopes on my phone, etc. I
am also a fashion fiend and absolutely love clothes and the endless outfit
possibilities you can have with them. I was born on April 22, therefore, I am a
Taurus. Taurus are independent and prefer sticking to themselves and having a
small group of friends. Taurus pay attention to detail and are perfectionists
most of the time. The fashion sense of a Taurus can be described as classic,
chic, and earthy. I enjoy high quality, unique fabrics such as velvet,
cashmere, and silk. I absolutely love playing with textures and fabrics when I
style my outfits! I love putting together completely opposite fabrics that work
well together. I would say my style is very girly but with an edge. For
example, I pair feminine lace crochet tops with bold pleather skirts. When I
look for new items for my closet, I do not fall for high price tags right away.
If I see something I love featured on the runway or I see a celebrity trend, I
will scope out for any budget options that showcase the same style and look. I
choose to splurge only on items that I know will be my closet staples. My
recent “splurge” was on a Zara skort that I have been eyeing for a long time.
It is such a conversational piece and I believe it gives an outfit some
structure and class.
My staple items are very versatile and you can wear them
with just about anything. For me, I don’t mind the price tag when they are
items that I know I will keep wearing and will never be “out of style.” Having
a few staple items in my closet has made outfit matching much more easier and I
am able to create a variety of looks.
Taurus is an Earth sign. This means that Taurus are into
earthy colors. I, myself, have noticed that my closet is mainly grey or taupe.
However, I have some bright pieces that I bring out when I am feeling
adventurous. Taurus are to themselves most of the time but are very adventurous
when they want to be! A current bold fashion trend I am in love with is neon
accents! I love to brighten up an outfit with a bright neon pink chiffon
cardigan or a neon yellow necklace.
In conclusion, Taurus are classy and chic fashionistas who
spend on a few quality pieces and use them as the seasons go by. Because trends
and styles change, I choose to shop at places with bargain prices and match
those clothes with my staple pieces. Fashion is what you make out of it. I,
personally, feel that my style embodies my zodiac sign and shows my
personality. Google your zodiac sign fashion style and see what you get! You
may never have realized that your fashion sense and your zodiac sign go hand in
hand :)
XOXO,
QT KIM

Inspiration Monday: Running for a Cause
Happy Monday Q fans!
This weekend I had the opportunity to run the Long Beach Half Marathon with Team Victory of the Marfan Foundation. The Marfan Foundation is an organization catered to help those with Marfan's Syndrome, a life threatening genetic disorder that affects vital organs and tissues in your body. To learn more about Marfan Syndrome, go to www.marfan.org or click here.
This organization is particularly important to me because I lost my best friend, Jon, due to complications of Marfans last August 3rd. My best friend had no idea he had Marfans until his family found out after his autopsy. It feels so rewarding to be able to raise money for this cause, fight for victory, spread awareness of the disease through my involvement, and do all this for my best friend Jon <3.
If there is any particular cause that means something to you, don't be afraid to look up of an existing club, foundation, or ways to volunteer! There are so many gratifying benefits to volunteering!
Hope you enjoyed my little Monday inspiration :) . Looking forward to another Q-ful week of posts by our lovely team.

Jon and I have been friends since we were 5 when we met in kindergarten. We share the same birthday! We grew up together in a BIG group of the bestest friends with the most loving individuals! He was our best friend, brother, and most importantly he was our leader. We always looked up to him because he was so kind-hearted, genuine, and compassionate. He lived each day embracing life with a contagious positive attitude. He truly was larger than life! I can't stress enough how phenomenal Jon was. He had his way of making everyone he came across feel SUPER special.
Simply, Jon was a blessing. He touched my life in countless ways and continues to put more meaning each day. His death was a major tragic event in our group's lives, but together we continue to live for the life and spirit of Jon!
