THROWBACK THURSDAY #TBT

#TBT TO THIS SUMMER'S Q COUNTRYSIDE PHOTOSHOOT

Prior to the start of Q's fashion blog, QTs spent the summer taking photos for our Instagram and Facebook page. It's exciting to finally have an outlet to showcase all of the pictures from the photo sessions we had this summer! As an amateur photographer, I love discovering new territories and hidden gems across SO-CAL. Part of the major reasons why I love being a Californian is because of the natural variation of landscape features that you find all just an hour or so apart!

This first photoshoot was taken in the "countryside" in Riley's Farm of Beaumont, CA...just 70 miles east of Los Angeles.

We featured some of our favorite summer Q clothing, that are no longer available at the store! Thanks to Q models and sisters, Nicole and Tanya for a successful first Q shoot back in May 2013!

Tanya in front of a shack, wearing Q turquoise knit net top with Q black long skirt with slit.

QT File, Jackie S.

Style Blogger. "Miss Fashionista."

Our QT style blogger, Jackie, is the sweetest! She is definitely a natural born fashionista.  She enjoys mixing girly pieces of clothing with edgy ones to concoct the perfect outfits! She is super precise in planning her daily outfits and gives a lot of attention to detail. You will NEVER see her without accessories. To her, accessories aren't just an add-on but are equally important as the outfit itself!  Her deep "passion for fashion" and vast range of fashion knowledge makes her a strong asset to our Q team! Jackie considers her style to be flirty, cute, and trendy. She enjoys sharing her talent and keen eye for fashion, as she successfully implements it in her everyday style.

Celebs spotted wearing the similar wildfox knit sweater with stars.

Here's what Jackie has to say about herself:

“I was born and raised in the Los Angeles Area of California, where fashion is
constantly changing. I am a first year college student, majoring in Business Management and minoring in Fashion Design. At a young age I learned to do my best to follow the newest trends and learn about what styles fit me best. I am a huge fan of exploring new shopping sites with friends and family. From
visiting typical shopping malls to wondering around flee markets and outlets, cute clothes is available everywhere for me. “Trust me, I would basically go anywhere for clothes.” Unlike most people, I actually enjoy getting ready to go out simply because I get to pick up an outfit and get dressed up. Although with that being said,I do suffer from the occasional “I have nothing to wear” even though my closet is overflowing with clothes just like most individuals.
I consider myself to be beyond blessed in so many aspects of my life since I have wonderful support and get the opportunity to do what I love. I can’t express how important it is, to take time and be grateful for everything you have everyday.”

Movie Review: Kick-Ass 2

Tip: Stay until after the credits, there a little snippet you do not want to miss.

If you’re looking for an action-packed, hilarious, from comic origin movie, go watch Kick Ass 2! This movie had my rolling laughing around in my seat and at the edge of it due to the unexpected twists. I must admit my motivation for watching the first Kick Ass was British hottie Aaron Johnson. Well I’m glad I did because, it opened my eyes to a new genre of super hero movies. The super heroes in this movie are regular human beings that are tired of watching the corrupted NYPD do nothing. The human super heroes wear their skin tight costumes and put the crime fighting into their own hands. The Kick Ass series in general is not very realistic due to the abundant bright red bloody scenes, but it does show that the human body is delicate and that it’s easy to get hurt and killed. While Aaron Johnson was the reason that drew me in, Hit-girl was the reason I stayed. She made the movie so epic. There was something about the movie, that made me want to go out into the real world, fight for justice, learn how to ride a motorcycle and be an all around bad ass like Hit-girl. This movie is Rated R for strong brutal violence throughout, pervasive language, sexual content, and nudity.

Aaron Taylor Johnson, Chloe Grace Mortez, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Donald Faison and Jim Carrey. What a lovely cast! Here's the preview. I definitely recommend it.

Here's a little sneak peak of Mindy Macready growing up featuring Union J:

Guess Who's Back Back Back?! School. School is back.

In just a week or two (or more, for you lucky kids whose schools use the quarter system), we will all have to stop just being lazy and start feeling guilty about being lazy! I think of shopping for back-to-school outfits as the sort of opening ceremony for the new school year -- it's full of potential and hope and magic, the way anything related to the future is.

But beware, it is also one of the best excuses people have for buying clothes they will never wear -- "You never know, there might be a neon-themed party I can totally wear those shorts to" is a dangerous yet totally plausible scenario that could end with you trying to break even selling a pair of fluorescent pink shorts on eBay.

Instead, buy cute clothes that you can wear with the other pieces you'll be buying throughout the school year (you'll have plenty of opportunities: Black Friday, Christmas and Spring Cleaning sales). Think of it as investing in a new, personalize-able (no, it's not a word) backdrop.

1. A comfortable, solid or mildly-patterned dress
Classic (Madewell, on sale for $121) *splurge*

Cute (Free People, on sale for $64)

Unique (Tobi, on sale for $19)

You can wear it alone on a hot day with any new accessory you want to try out, and pair it with any sweater or over tights in the colder months for a skirt that won't cause muffin-top situations or slip down when you sit.

2. The wear-with-everything necklace
Classic (Madewell, $32)

Cute (Monserat de Lucca, on sale for $40)

Unique (Juicy Couture, $52) *splurge*

The accessory that will make people think immediately of you.

3. The button-up top
Classic (J. Crew, $50)

Cute (Zara, $40)

Unique (Lucky Brand, $50)

Tie it up, tuck it in, let it loose, button it all the way, don't button it at all and wear it over a tank top -- there are fifty ways to wear this top and a hundred more occasions you could wear it to.

4. The perfect pair of jeans
Classic (Madewell, on sale for $100) *splurge*

Cute (J Brand, on sale for $57)

Unique (Mango, on sale for $35)

Don't write off the ability of a certain cut to drastically change your overall vibe. Jeans: the silent power players.

5. A signature statement piece
Classic (Zara, $80)

Cute (ModCloth, $16)

Unique (Viva Vena! by Vena Cava, on sale for $34)

If your wear-with-everything necklace (see 2) makes people think of you, this piece will make people think of your style.

On a final note, here is my version of a pep talk:

School might involve some procrastinating, all-nighters and buckets o'stress, but that also means hanging out with friends, late-night guilty pleasures (2 am pizza party, anyone?) and that awesome feeling when you get your quiz back and realize all that hard work has been worth it. So while it's not all good, the parts that aren't bad are awesome, and don't overthink it. Everyone lives, everyone dies, and our memories are the ones that set us apart. Get ready for an unpredictable new year!
